She used it in a private capacity with friends and not publicly (cringe) which I’m sure is what they’ll try and argue They’re not technically breaking any rules “they promised”. Someone needs to do something about it at some point….
My personal theory is that those rumblings are coming from the Sussex PR camp - as a way to refute/defend them in other papers that they have a right to their HRH. The RF has been very good at grey rocking and Harry spent a lot of time whinging that his family plants stories (which is probably true to some extent but the tone sounds "off") so it seems more in character for the Sussex camp to create a "leading scenario", if you will. I used to work in politics and that is a very common strategy.
The thing about titles and styles is that they are not removed in an individual case. There is only one example in the last century, Princess Patricia of Connaught, but she volentarily gave up her HRH in order to get permission to marry.
That is why the palace have favoured the “gentlemen’s agreement” approach because that can be negotiated on a case by case basis - Wessex children, Andrew, H&M - But it only works if everybody stick to the agreement.
Any permanent changes to H&M title & style will have an effect on everyone who falls in the same category as they do, children of the monarch - Andrew, Edward, Charlotte & Louis.
Remember that Diana had her HRH removed after her divorce. If Meghan divorces Harry her HRH will go although she'll be able to keep the Duchess of Sussex in a slightly varied way. I don't believe that William would take Harry's HRH away because of the painful memories of his mother's humiliation. There was a story that William told Diana that he would give her the HRH back when he became King?
I was in the UK last week and spent half the week visiting Edinburgh. It was my first time in Scotland (after many trips to England) and I left wanting to go back and spend more time in Scotland. And then I saw all the pictures and videos of this trip, and now I want to go back even more. I thought her outfits were just perfect for the various activities they did on trip and there were enough new pieces to keep it fresh. This to me felt like the most normal thing they have done (in their professional royal) capacity since the end of 2023, so I thought it was absolutely delightful.
They look very relaxed and happy to me! I love her casual looks-very much the way I desire to dress. Kate has a wonderful way of coming across very polished, but very accessible.
I loved her outfits because it was an anniversary trip and lent itself to a little more relaxed wardrobe. Just my 2¢. And Jane, I don’t think I can wait for the next newsletter to hear your thoughts on the HRH with MM. I’ll be waiting over here with bated breath!
I think she looked lovely; really great sporty pieces. I wonder if Kate's love of skinny or narrow pants is a statement against the voluminous look that has taken over. Clearly she likes this look more and she carries it off beautifully.
As an aging millennial who doesn't want to give up their skinny jeans, I love that Kate still wears hers. I can't be *that* unfashionable if I'm twinning with the Princess of Wales!
Question for British folks: what does “self catering” mean? Is this the same as American camping? Or just that there is no hotel staff, food provided? More like staying in a house than a hotel? Thanks!
I love when Kate goes casual during outdoorsy engagements. She comes across relatable and involved, not grandiose. My favorite sporty looks of hers are when they do nautical events.
I love that they visited a place with warm memories for them, and they seemed to have a great time. Continuing on with Kate’s post-treatment theme of focusing on the things that matter most. Love it.
I love how Catherine has such distinctive style categories and this was ‘Country Casual Catherine.’ I’m not crazy about the skinny jeans…style has really moved on and she looks great in straight leg pants which can still be narrow, but not skinny.
I love her bronde hair! It’s so summery and flattering.
Can’t wait for Jane’s thoughts on the HRH Sussex issue!
I completely agree that the wardrobe pieces were great for the events each day. Polished but accessible. I know sometimes we want to see fancier clothes, but I also think sometimes that can be off putting to the people they are visiting with. And I'm confident that they want to lift people up, not make them feel self conscious because they are dressed a certain way. It really depends on the occasion and I think these looks were perfect for the place, people, and stops!
I love that these two look so in love still, after 14 years! They make me smile. 😊 Was it really that long ago that we watched them come out of the cathedral and took our breath away!?! ❤️
Kate looks great! So nice to see them out!
Great to have seen them. They looked very relaxed. Was a bit surprised with the amount of PDA - nothing inappropriate, but seemed different.
The clothes were ok for me but it didn’t matter :)
Will be very interested in your take re the HRH and MM….. and is there anything to the gossip re William plans to remove the HRHs for H and M?
Thanks for the post!
I have been wondering what, if anything, might be done about the HRH use by MM

But seriously who signs a card to their friend that way? That’s what I find bizarre
I'm curious too. I feel like there have been rumblings for months that William wants the titles removed but we will see.

Sporty Kate is my favourite Kate!
💐
Same for me! She wears it so well!
Very appropriate wardrobe for the visit. Looks like they had a great time.

Same! 😬
This might be the longest and most anticipated newsletter wait I’ve ever felt. Hopefully it exceeds expectations 🤣🤣🤣

I’m so glad she still wear skinny pants! The baggy styles are driving me crazy.

Self catering means you don’t have any food/cleaning service and so it’s basically just the accommodation you’re getting. Hope that helps!
That Ralph Lauren blazer was just heavenly and her new lighter 'do is fresh for spring. So happy to see her looking so well!

That Holland Cooper blazer was GORGEOUS.

Is there an ID for the sunglasses?! Love them!
