I hope everyone had a very happy Christmas and is getting some rest on these in-between days before the New Year festivities. The Royal family created a delightful tableau on Christmas morning. As expected, the outfits were well-coordinated and attractive, we saw some beautiful jewellery, old and new, and the family members seemed genuinely happy and relaxed. The children behaved impeccably - Louis has grown up a lot!

However, for me, the standout was the Princess of Wales. She looked so happy and at ease. Catherine is excellent at engaging with people who come out to see the Royal family, but this time she displayed even more warmth and consideration. She looked radiant, engaged and comfortable, and it was wonderful to see.

I really like her new earrings. They are more modern than we are used to seeing on royal ladies but I think they’re gorgeous and suit her very well. William has stepped up his gift giving game!

Love this, and seeing them so happy!

I wonder about the security of the gifts given to the children. To be clear, I of course want them to be safe. Do you think the gifts are inspected once they return home? (Said as the mom of “regular” young kids who, for instance, Trick or Treat.)

I'm curious too. Some say fans are told in advance that the gifts given will be donated but I can't find anything to verify that. I imagine that personal letters or drawings are kept but I highly doubt anything edible is kept. That would be too risky.

I agree Jane I thought Charlotte was the sartorial star it’s lovely to see her breaking out of the traditional standard coat the lines and texture of her outfit really suited her

I thought Catherine looked much more relaxed and less "styled and coiffed" than she usually is, which made me very happy. I always thought it would be such a detraction from a lovely family time on Christmas morning to have to spend all that time primping. This year, I thought she looked more like a mum who got her family ready and then herself - but still as lovely as ever. Just maybe a little more casual? I like that...

I feel like the earrings might look really good with one of the aquamarine brooches - maybe the aquamarine clip brooches or the art deco aquamarine brooch? So I’m hoping this was a plan for future wearing of the earrings with a brooch siting in our future (maybe even with the aquamarine tiara?? One can hope!)

It was good to see the Princess of Wales out and about and I love that she was taking the time to talk to people. Everyone overall looked happy and healthy and that’s the best thing I could wish for the whole royal family.

Thanks for all you do, Jane! I appreciate your posts so much and the community you’ve created. Hope your holidays have been/are peaceful and joyful.

This was a lovely Christmas appearance for the Wales family. The other royals looked good too, particularly the Queen and Zara Tindall, in green and aubergine respectively.

I loved that William had to call the security guy to get Kate to move along, as they were all waiting for her!

I believe Charlotte’s coat was bespoke ALEXANDER McQUEEN like Kate’s. So so perfect on her!

Maybe Charlotte’s coat is bespoke? And Catherine had a tough year, so did I. It was a nice Christmas, though.

She looks so wonderful. I feel like she is getting her strength back. It must have been so gratifying to be greeted by the beautiful Princess of Wales and her family. The earrings are stunning. Charlotte is coming into her own as she gets older, and she is going to be a beauty like her mother. I am enjoying this very slow week as we get ready for a new year. Best wishes to you, Jane, and to everyone in this community.
