The habitually delayed Monday Memory is here. :) Today’s Monday Memory is October 12, 2018: the royal wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
For some reason, as I scrolled through the photos I was surprised to see Meghan in the background. I suppose she was on the scene for such a relatively short amount of time, I don't think of her as part of the crew for family events. But this was the autumn of the year Meghan and Harry married, and the couple were about to head out on an overseas tour of Australia, if memory serves. For this wedding, the Duchess of Sussex chose a Givenchy ensemble that I liked then and still like now, although it might have been a little all-purpose for a royal wedding.
Pippa Middleton Matthews was on the guest list, accompanied by her husband James and her brother James. She wore an Emilia Wickstead that flattered her bump beautifully.
Back to our leading lady. Kate wore an Alexander McQueen dress in bright berry that featured a pleated neckline and “paper bag” waistline. It was a very close design to the pink Trooping she wore just the year before. I far prefer the pink to the berry, but in reviewing pictures for this post, I will say the darker pink has grown on me.
The then-Duchess of Cambridge paired the dress with a Philip Treacy hat and a clutch and pumps from Prada. Kate wore earrings on loan from the Queen that she had worn on a number of other occasions.
This dress was so pretty. I love the paper bag detailing at the waist and the pleated neckline, which both add interest to an otherwise simple silhouette. Perhaps today’s current trend toward very poofy shoulders has me shying away from the peaked ones here, but I don’t think they ruined the outfit.
Eugenie’s wedding was a beautiful and classic royal wedding. As lovely and intimate as Beatrice’s wedding appeared, I am so glad the family put on the full show for the public. With the Queen and Philip still alive, it was a special time.
I might turn her wedding on in the background this week for the music. Remember all royal weddings are available on the Royal Family’s YouTube channel!
I loved this whole event apart from the faux ‘maternity’ coat that a certain person was wearing. This seemed happy wedding, very celebratory unlike the May dirge of a day. Catherine looked totally beautiful and elegant, as did Pippa who at least did have a bump to dress. Sorry, but I was furious with the attention seeking Markle !!
It was such a lovely wedding and the clothing was 😍 As for Meghan, she just never looked comfortable in most pictures to me.
She looked like she was faking it. I am not saying that to be mean, but more like she never felt like she fit in. I realize there are layers to peel away with that but that’s just how I perceive her when I see old pics of her. Even live action. Bless her heart.
