I thought the black velvet touches on the coat really elevated it to "absolutely elegant" and I agree about the larger hats. I think larger hats look better on most women although I did like Princess Eugenie's almost-cloche hat that she wore to the present Duke of Westminster's wedding this past weekend.
What a timely post and remembrance. Love this look and completely agree about the bigger hats on Kate, she looks very elegant. Both the hat and the coat with their color blocked velvet are timeless as well as nicely tailored, striking the right note for the occasion. I'm always pleased to see a full visual when Kate rewears her 'balcony only' looks. All of her 'remembrance' and 'mourning' looks have been very elegant and she has an affinity for looking so poised and put together, which in turn make most of her looks timeless. They certainly do hold up over the years from a photography perspective.
Absolutely love this look and honestly my favorite era in Kate’s style was 2014-2018, with 2016 being my absolute favorite. I think I loved every look from 2016!
I have the opposite view of her hats 😂. I think she looks so much better in the smaller hats. I feel like the bigger hats make her look older and more frumpy.
I was in London this past weekend and walking down The Mall and seeing the balcony at Buckingham Palace made me a bit sad that we likely won't see Catherine this weekend, although I completely understand. This look in 2016 was such a regal look!
Loved it then and still do. Thank you sharing!

Oooh maybe Jane could do a 2016 montage?
Oh my gosh, please Jane!!!!!
Love it and yes she could wear it again.
This makes me so miss seeing Kate, her appearances and her fashion were always so enjoyable to see.
I’d love to see a post on the Westminster wedding, particularly the fashion!
I loved this coat and it was perfect with the hat, too.
She has the best wardrobe of elegant coats! This one was striking, and has a timelessness.
