I didn’t feel like a “bright, new” Monarchy was coming through during this coronation. I don’t know why.

I must admit I found some of it just archaic and plain odd, like all those people handing the regalia back and forth between them and showing them to the King and putting them back...

Beautiful photos!! Thank you for the look back to a year ago at an historic, sumptuous and meaningful ceremonial occasion. Speaking of a balcony appearance, If the Princess of Wales is well enough, what are the next occasions on the Royal calendar where she might appear? Thank you.

I watched with my Mum, who remembered the last Coronation - it was lovely to share the day with her. I still regret no tiaras - but Kate's hairpiece was so tiara adjacent that one only has to squint a little to imagine diamonds!

I also regret no Wales family Coronation portrait, and no further sightings of Kate's gown, without the robe and added bib at the front. Maybe when she returns to Princessing, we will see it at a State Opening of Parliament or a State dinner. I really hope so.

Such a poignant reminder about how a year can be so long and so short. The coronation feels like just yesterday, and yet so much has happened in the past year.

Wonderful look back! I loved the ceremonies, the pomp and pageantry, the historical value of seeing the coronation. I think I may watch it again. Every family goes through bumps, it doesn’t matter who you are. You have certainly experienced this and I hope you are doing well. I am sure Catherine and Charles are getting the absolute best medical care available and that they will be back in good form soon.

The coronation soundtrack is a wonderful listen. Your article has reminded me that I should give it a listen this week!

I read interviews with various attendees who said the music was breathtaking I think for me more inspiring than the pimp and regalia

I was on the Mall for the coronation. It was party central the night before so very little sleep but it was fun. Obviously got totally soaked on the big day but it was an amazing experience, I really wanted to see the Golden state coach in 'action' and our newly minted King and, of course, the Wales family ! Catherine was on our side as they made their way to the Palace and she was luminous, glowing and I was like a drowned rat but it was a grand day!
