Catherine always looked especially beautiful while pregnant. The fullness in her face was particularly flattering. Also enjoyed her pregnancy fashions. I'm so hoping that Catherine is doing well and will be back soon!
Me too, I have been so concerned for her, chemo is so difficult, some people seem to do fine with it (like King Charles) but others really get laid low. I hope she is having lots of cheery visits with people and isn't putting any pressure on herself at all.
Re Downton: I had a kind of love/meh relationship with Downton because of some of the storylines but I won't talk about meh-to-me parts today. The stories I liked the best were the romance between Carson and Mrs. Hughes, when Bertie apologized to Lady Edith and asked her to marry him: set my heart aflutter, there they were at the Ritz, every scorned woman's dream. and ummm, Lady Violet in EVERYTHING.
Kate was such a beautiful, cheerful, calming presence in the world. I miss her and really hope her recovery is progressing well.
I didn't know there was a third Downton movie in production. Can't wait! The movies weren't as good as the show at its best but they were good enough and I enjoyed every second of them. And really, for me at least, Downton was all about spending time with these beloved characters. The show's plots got increasingly outlandish but I always enjoyed having a cup of tea and some shortbread and spending time with them. Violet will be sorely missed.
Have you ever watched the YouTube of Lady Violet's finest comebacks? Hilarious. The one where Cora says to Violet she is thinking of sending the disgraced Lady Mary over to visit relatives in New York: "Oh I don't think things are quite THAT desperate." Said with that Lady Violet face....
I’m taking your advice and rewatching Downton Abbey. I’m like you, I remember the general plot but not the details. Tomorrow is going to be a rainy day so I’m. looking forward to the binge.
Love this flashback, and, like many of us I too am very excited for another trip to Downton! I rewatched it from the beginning earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Felt somewhat bereft afterwards, so I then chose Poldark to watch from the beginning, which I can also highly recommend!

There appears to be writing on the cake. Do we know what it reads?

I haven't but I need to find it!
I do have a tee shirt that says, "What is a weekend?" though.
I was a Downton tragic. Team Matthew :( What a beautiful Monday memory this was. Thank you Jane.
