As you say, we can hope for an A game appearance! My least favourite was the yellow - I thought the waistline was too high and the three quarter sleeves emphasised it. Loved the colour - her recent garden party dress in a similar hue was fabulous!
I think the jade green 2023 is my recent favourite, with her first appearance in the ruffled coat my favourite “early years” ensemble. Looking forward to Saturday!
I didn't care for the yellow either but it was the peplum that bothered me. To me, it was a fussy detail and made the waistline look awkward. However, I loved the hat!
What fun to look back at these Trooping looks! It's like a fashion overview of the last decade plus. My favorites were the pink with the paperbag waist detail and the green from two years ago. I love when she wows us with her selection.
The pink and green are my favorites too. My other top is the 2013 white McQueen coat. That coat is still tied with the McQ black watch plaid coat in my all-time favorites lineup!
(The day those 2017 photos came in, I was nursing my daughter and eating wheat thins, feeling the post-partum blues. What a wonderful escape it was to see these gorgeous photos. I remember it so vividly.)
I will just happen to be in London this weekend and would love to see this! Does anyone know if there’s a rooftop / terrace restaurant where you can book a table and catch a glimpse of the parade?
No, but you can just head to The Mall and watch from there. I did it at some point in the 2010s, was a couple of rows back but still had a great view of the procession. My overriding memory is of making eye contact with The Queen as her carriage went by!
Once the procession is over and the royals are back in BP, the police gradually remove the barricades to enable the crowd to process up The Mall and see the balcony appearance.
The pink McQueen is a favorite of mine. I wonder if Jane thinks that Catherine might wear Burton in her Dior role? Or maybe if they worked together on any dresses before she took on the role?
Your post was a day before Kate’s appearance this morning at the new V & A Storehouse :) There aren’t many photos yet but I am as interested in the place as much as Kate, looks so interesting!
I didn't realize that Kate has worn McQueen so consistently to Trooping over the years, until seeing them all together in this post. I still love her very first appearance - that white coat fits her like a glove, and I think the ruffles are so interesting. It would look fabulous with a pencil skirt instead of the frilly dress she wore. The ruffles of the coat kind of got lost against the ruffles of the dress underneath. I hope she wears something new this weekend, and it will be interesting to see what designer she chooses. I'm sure she'll look fabulous regardless!
I don't recall seeing the white McQueen coat worn at her very first trooping but that is my favorite look. Something about it - the ruffles, the buttons, the contrasting black hat, and her hair looking so lush and a little bit less polished than in subsequent years - really makes her look like a modern fairytale princess. Kate is always appropriate and beautiful but I find many of the middle years looks rather boring and forgettable. In recent years you can see that she has really hit her stride and is so elegant, taking everything up a notch. I love the yellow, the green, and the two white outfits, all from the last four troopings. It's so interesting to contrast these looks with her first appearance in the white ruffled McQueen.
That yellow McQueen dress with all the folds was So lovely. Catherine looked fabulous in every instance...it really is just a guilty pleasure to await the next Look!
All I have to say is: please don't be a repeat, please don't be a repeat, please don't be a repeat - she's be REALLLLLLLYYYYY into repeats lately but surely not for something like this even. Fingers crossed!
Kate wasn’t pregnant at trooping in 2015, she would have been 5 weeks postpartum with Charlotte whose birthday is in May!

Agree on the yellow!

Once Kate went with her hair in updos, her appearances at this event became more and more elegant.

Love the Astrid dress - I hope she wears it again soon!
