Today’s Monday Memory draws us back to the Victoria & Albert Museum in 2017. Kate was the guest of honor at the museum on June 29th to open the Exhibition Road entrance wearing a Gucci grosgrain-trimmed tweed mini dress. This was a new dress and a new label to her closet. Although, Kate had carried accessories from Gucci (red clutch from 2011), this was the first dress we saw on her from the label.
I love this dress on Kate, and I think your suggestion, Jane, of a recycle with flats and an updo would be lovely as well. Is the print black or navy? Either looks fantastic, and Kate looks beautifully healthy in these photos. I do hope her treatments are going well and we will see a return to these types of engagements on her calendar.
I am really long waisted like Kate and, as Dawn observes below, it looks short waisted to me. Otherwise, I love this look, especially the skirt length to show off Kate's phenomenal legs and the chunky heeled black pumps. I also love how coordinated this outfit is with the red clutch and black shoes. I'd love to see this worn again in the updated way that Jane has suggested-brilliant!!
What a fabulous and timeless look. I can see a dress like that being worn by Princess Anne in the late 60s, and I could see this same dress being worn by Charlotte in 15 years.
Fabulous dress, hairstyle and accessories. A very 60s look when higher waists on dresses were not uncommon. I like the heels. They have enough presence to balance the dress and are also reminiscent of the 60s. Stilettos wouldn’t work, though flats would be another option for more casual styling.
Can I just say how elegant Kate always looks walking down stairs? Wow. I know she's probably been to finishing school. When I try to walk like that down stairs I almost always fall!
This isn’t one of my favourite dresses on Kate. I don’t see her wearing anything this short again (except maybe actual shorts, for a sports event) and that doesn’t upset me.
What strikes me is how plump her cheeks were at that time... she really looked healthy: it is so sad to know she is battling cancer today. She is so young! Wish her all the best!

I agree with flats and updo. I’m not sure we will see it on her again due to the shorter length but it would be nice if we did !!
Loved this dress, but it seemed short waisted on her.
I love this look so much even though I don’t always love shorter hemlines (above the knee). She really shone in it.

This is still one of my all time favorite dresses that she has worn

I loved this outfit, and still do. Somehow youthful and mature at the same time!

I loved this look! Timeless and classic
