Good morning, and Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and got all your shopping done during the sales. :-) Usually, I find the Black Friday sales stressful, but this is the first year that Black Friday has coincided with a big boost in my personal planning (kitchen reorganization, bathroom reorganization, a search for cleaner cleaning and beauty products, etc.). So it is the first year I have been very excited to get shopping. Don’t forget in all the bustle that this is a busy week for Kate watching! We will be seeing her tomorrow and Friday. But before it all gets started, today is a regular Monday Memory. Today’s post takes us back to February 18, 2015—Kate’s visit to Emma Bridgewater’s pottery factory.
At the time, Emma Bridgewater had partnered with the East Anglia Children’s Hospice (“EACH”) to raise funds for the Nook, EACH’s new children’s hospice. She created two exclusive mugs for EACH, and a portion of each sale of those mugs went to EACH’s fundraising goal.
Kate, who is royal patron of EACH, visited the factory to see how the mugs were made. On this visit, she pushed up her sleeves, literally, and pitched in helping to mold the clay and hand paint some of Emma’s famous mugs.
Kate wore SportMax’s Gerbera coat. The Princess was pregnant with Charlotte at the time, so she paired the coat with a Seraphine maternity dress.
Kate complemented her look with Jimmy Choo’s Georgie heels and L.K. Bennett’s Frome clutch. She added sparkle with her sapphire diamond drops and a stunning bouquet of flowers gifted by her hosts.
Kate’s blue hues looked so lovely against the warm red of the factory brick. Someone asked me on my Instagram Q&A last week what engagements I miss/want to see again in 2025. This is the type of event I love. I love Emma Bridgewater, the pottery tour, the cozy coat, the beautiful flowers. I miss these everyday events a lot.
That said, I can’t wait to see Kate tomorrow. Although the Princess is not attending the State Banquet, she will stay for the private lunch at the Palace and to view the collection display, so we should get pictures from that viewing. It also indicates Kate is feeling well, which is great. You probably recall she was pregnant when she welcomed the President and First Lady of Singapore in 2014, and it was straight home for her after the ceremonial welcome at the Horse Guards. It’s great that this year she will enjoy the private lunch.
I have always felt that Catherine was at her most beautiful during her pregnancies. She is stunning at all times but that pregnancy glow was really something.
What a lovely memory! I love Emma Bridgewater pottery and have one of her tea sets as well as a couple of mugs done for QE2's 70th Jubilee.
I do wish we could see Kate in a tiara at the banquet but I'll be happy to see her at all. It's going to be a good week for Kate watchers.
