Kate in Red for Pre-Launch Event

The Princess of Wales—accompanied by a very proud looking Prince William—was on fire tonight as she attended a pre-launch event for her new Early Years campaign, Shaping Us. We’ve been waiting all month for the promised big reveal, and Kensington Palace has pulled out the stops to debut this new initiative.

Kate hosted the event at the BAFTA HQ in London, and delivered brief remarks on her new campaign. She said:

The campaign is fundamentally about shining a spotlight on the critical importance of early childhood and how it shapes the adults we become. During this time we lay the foundations and building blocks for life. And it is when we learn to understand ourselves, understand others and the world in which we live.

This is why it is essential, to not only understand the unique importance of our earliest years, but to know what we can all do to help raise future generations of happy, healthy adults. Shaping Us is a long-term campaign, and we’re starting by highlighting how we develop during early childhood and why these years matter so much in terms of shaping who we become.

As the campaign progresses, we will explore in more depth the importance of a child’s social and emotional world, the significance of relationships, and the impact of the surroundings and experiences a child is exposed to during these formative years. Together these play a key role in shaping our future lives. Yet they rarely get as much focus as our physical health and cognitive development.

According to the Times, Kate’s campaign is scheduled to last five to ten years and is “[a]imed at changing public perception rather than influencing policy directly,” and “it hopes to ‘transform the issue from one of scientific interest to one of the most strategically important topics of our time.’”

We should get more details tomorrow.

Kate’s asymmetric suit is by McQueen, and the dazzling Princess paired it with matching Gianvito Rossi heels. She carried a Miu Miu clutch and wore bold Chalk Jewelry earrings.

I think this was certainly the definition of a modern power suit. The cut of the jacket and the asymmetric hem accentuated Kate’s figure, and the deep v-neck was the perfect plunge for an evening event. For me, this was a big win. I understand why she chose a suit for this event, and she pulled it off spectacularly by bringing the the glamor and power with such a bold color and exquisite tailoring that highlighted her femininity and beauty. A+
