Jane, do you think that Nanny Maria will leave the Cambridge employ when they move to Windsor? Louis will be starting school, no babies at home. Plus Adelaide Cottage, the purported home in Windsor, only has four bedrooms. I wonder if Nanny Maria will go on to another Royal household.
I imagine they will still need help with childcare while they are working or traveling to engagements when school is not in session, especially as they are increasingly stepping up on behalf of the Queen. I’ve read reports that they would not have live-in staff at Adelaide Cottage but there are nearby staff quarters available at Windsor.
Kate's parents are 33 miles away and I am sure they will be glad that they don't have to negotiate London traffic to go visit them. I wonder whether, with Pippa pregnant with her third, Pippa and her husband may look for something out that way as well. Otherwise Carole Middleton will be one very busy grandma! I still think that Nanny Maria may leave to find other nanny employment; that's her career, although she seems to be very much part of the family, professional nannies usually continue on with other families. I read somewhere that the average length of time a nanny stays with a family is about 6-7 years?
Not often mentioned adjoining Adelaide Cottage is Adelaide Lodge. So room for staff really isn't a problem. I have no idea if Nanny Maria is continuing with them but I would think so.
Adelaide Lodge is adjoining Adelaide Cottage. It was built later than the cottage itself. Royal Lodge is where Andrew lives. It's about 5 miles from Windsor Castle.
Oh thanks for the clarification Kathleen! I Google'd Adelaide Cottage and found a good website that describes both cottage and lodge. So I guess they will be living in both properties? Interestingly, in trying to find information about the Lodge I came across Town & Country and Harpers Bazaar articles from July 2018, which said that the Queen would be giving Adelaide Cottage to H & M. Guess they chose Frogmore instead. Imagine, though, if H & M had stayed and taken Adelaide instead of Frogmore.
They're really the same property as they'e physically connected. Yes, there were stories that Harry and Meghan would be taking Adelaide but they turned out not to be true that's why I when the stories appeared the Cambridges were taking it I took a wait and see attitude. Turns out apparently in this case it was true. I find it much more charming than Frogmore Cottage.
I really don't care for this McQueen coat dress. I find the neckline to be most unflattering on Catherine. I felt the same about the Catherine Walker from their Church of Scotland appearance last year although I do prefer the shade of blue and the simplicity of design of the McQueen. Honestly, it is so similar to the blue CW and the powder blue McQueen she wore Easter (which I like very much) don't see the point of it.
Adore the Aquazzura sling backs with the linked rhinestone embellishment on the straps which compliments her sapphire and diamond jewelry nicely. Some thought they were too dressy for daytime but it was a fairly formal event and both Camilla and the Queen were wearing metallic shoes.
Sofie's champagne coloured Jane Taylor hat with fringe detail and white feathers is killer, love it against the pink of her Valentino fit and flare. The diamond rose shaped brooch completes the look nicely.
Very glad Andrew's public public appearance was nixed! Head scratcher how anyone at the Palace could have thought it ok but I suppose Andrew has a way of finagling things with the Queen.
She seems to be growing even more beautiful as she ages. Some of the photos from today are some of the prettiest that I have ever seen of her and I have been following her from the beginning!!
I love the coat dress and love the neckline and shoulders. I think it shows off her gorgeous collarbone area and makes the outfit interesting. But agree on everything else you said and always enjoy your perspective.
Lovely color and I love the wide cuffs. I also adore her shoes as I did the shoes she wore today to the Grenfell remembrance.
William is closely guarding the monarchy!

Isn't "the Lodge" Royal Lodge where . . . ummm . . . Andrew currently lives? THAT would be interesting!

Jane, I would love to hear your thoughts on Sophie's outfit. I thought she looked lovely, as well!
