On Monday, the Princess of Wales released a video on her social pages celebrating Mother Nature in the spring. Kate narrates the short film, which features beautiful images of nature and behind-the-scenes video of William and Kate’s visit to Scotland at the end of April. This video is one of four that Kate will release in 2025, one for each season.
She followed that up with an in-person appearance yesterday, Tuesday the 13th. The Princess was at the 180 Studios in London to present The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at the British Fashion Council event.
Kate turned to British fashion designer Victoria Beckham for her ensemble, choosing one of the latter’s tailored trouser suits for the event. Kate paired it with ruffled blouse from Knatchbull and the Ralph Lauren Celia’s heels that she has been wearing a lot lately. She also added some real sparkle with the Bahrain Pearl and Diamond Drops.
The tailoring on this suit is perfect for Kate. Victoria and Kate have similarly petite bone structure, and it just seems that Victoria designs suits that really flatter the feminine frame. As readers know, I am not a big fan of constant trousers in a professional setting for Kate, but I don’t mind the occasional suit, and this one was a very flattering cut.
My real beef with this ensemble is the color. I was interested to see a sharp difference of opinion on my Instagram. Some people thought this color was both bold and beautiful on Kate. I am with the camp that felt the color was a big miss. My first thought when I saw the pictures start to hit X early Tuesday was, Kate needs to have a color analysis done.
For me, the color was a miss, but in every other respect, she pulled this off really well. The ruffled blouse especially gave the already feminine tailoring an extra boost. I just wish it had been in a flattering color, but otherwise it was a win for me.
I’m excited to see Catherine out and looking amazing. Serious earrings, super modish suit and great hair. Note she speaks to everyone, gives the award and stands back not hogging the mike. She shines the light on others but takes up her own space.
Everyone looks excited. She is at a fashion award. Not a boring dress event. The suit is tailored to the max and pressed to the inch. She shows consideration for the nature of the event and the audience it is serving.
I hope things are going well, really well and we get an event or announcement every week here on to August. I am crossing my fingers for the French visit in July. Hopefully some great clothes, a tiara maybe? And a return of the Early Years project.
The color reads entirely differently for me in the first few photos than in the last one. A chartreuse green that looked striking and perfect for fashion awards. In the last, a brown that did nothing for Catherine. Do we have any idea what it was in real life?
