Meghan has two major projects launching this January. Obviously, the formal project everyone is talking about is her Netflix show, which debuts on January 15th—less than a week away. But the second and perhaps as important project is her Instagram presence.
I have said, as have many of you, that if there is one thing Meghan might be successful at it would be a personal, influencer style Instagram presence. Her launch on January 1st had us all a twitter. I wondered in my post last week if she actually was coming back (an influencer style, active presence on Instagram) or if this was another semi-empty promise—an account where she’d post the occasional promo for her tv show and arms-length promotional posts.
The New Year’s Day beach clip was promising. I know some people panned it, but I liked it. You don’t have to like Meghan to see that that post was the right mix of curated and real. If she were going to launch a very successful influencer-style IG, that was a good start. Unfortunately, the trend since then has not been good. Meghan followed up that post with the trailer to her Netflix show, revealing that her Netflix show is going to probably flop with the critics (although I think viewership will be strong) and signaling that her IG is probably going to be sporadic and arms-length.
On Tuesday, Meghan posted the tribute to her dog Guy. That video moved toward the more personal content that, I think, could make for a successful account. As the the video progressed,
