Why I Think Kate Won't Be At Trooping

We are one week out from one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) weekends in the royal calendar: Trooping the Colour. Today, it was revealed that the Princess of Wales penned a sweet letter to the Irish Guards telling them how sorry she is to miss the Colonel’s Review, which takes place today, a week from Trooping. She signed it, Colonel Catherine.

Since I last wrote about Trooping, there has been speculation that Kate might appear on the balcony to support the King. I have given it some thought, and if I had to bet, I would put my money on Kate not appearing next week.

In theory, a balcony appearance would be the perfect opportunity for Kate to be seen in public with minimal effort or intrusion. She could arrive and depart the Palace privately, wait comfortably inside (again in private) until she steps out onto the balcony, smiles and waves, and retreats. It would be an appearance of short duration without interaction with the pubic or strangers. But in reality, I think it would simply feed the beast.
