Were the Royals Deliberately Active During the Invictus Games?
This year, Harry and Meghan did not get any deference on the royal calendar.
On September 18th, Prince William flew to New York City for a whirlwind visit to the Big Apple. His arrival coincided with much hustle, bustle, and excitement back in London as King Charles and Queen Camilla prepared to head to France for a State Visit. When William touched down in the U.S., a number of fans were surprised that his overseas trip would clash with Charles and Camilla’s visit to France, since the senior royals typically lay low when other major royals are undertaking a significant event, like an overseas trip.
But William’s visit was, indeed, a whirlwind one. By the end of the day on the 19th, he was back on a transatlantic flight to London. He’d gotten to New York, made his public appearances, undertaken some walkabouts, and was on his way home and off the world stage just in time for Charles and Camilla to take the spotlight as they headed to Paris.
It made me wonder whether the royals planned their very busy start to September to deliberately overlap with Harry and Meghan’s Invictus Games?
