The Rise of Alessandra Rich
A Wimbledon round-up and a review of Kate's current favorite label
Last Sunday was a big day for Kate as a mom as she brought her firstborn along to Wimbledon for the first time. The Duchess has a passion for tennis, and she has been working hard to instill that same love in all her little ones. The Cambridges went to significant effort and expense to beautifully renovate their tennis court at Anmer Hall, and Kate has often discussed how she gets her children out on the court as young as she can. In 2019, Roger Federer mentioned in a press conference that he had been to visit the Cambridges at Anmer Hall and had given Prince George a tennis lesson. So I imagine introducing George to Wimbledon was an emotional day for her.
Prince William arrived at the All England Club ahead of Kate and George, but was waiting to greet them as they arrived. I know a lot of people have been scratching their heads about this. Although it is certainly unusual to see them arrive separately, there could be any number of reasons. I did see someone note that John Kerry was at Wimbledon Sunday. William is planning the next Earthshot prize in the United States, so it is possible he arrived early to meet quietly with Kerry, but I doubt it. It was likely a logistical issue. Maybe Kate had been to see Pippa and the new baby earlier in the day? Who knows.
Of course, Sunday was not Kate’s only appearance at the tournament. The Duchess made her debut visit this year on Tuesday, July 5. William and Kate watched Novak Djokovic defeat Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals before heading to cheer on hometown champion Cam Norrie (who defeated David Goffin) in his quarter-finals match up.
Kate recycled an Alessandra Rich dress she wore to a street party during the Platinum Jubilee. The party wasn’t on the public schedule and so we only got a few pictures from people at the event and from the Cambridges’ official account.
It is a beautiful color blue on Kate, and she paired it with statement baroque pearl earrings from In2Design. Although shoes aren’t always on full display at Wimbledon, Kate was wearing the same Alessandra Rich two-tone heels she would wear again to the championship game on Sunday. Finally, Kate was carrying her Amberley crossbody bag from Mulberry.
Also in the royal box that afternoon were Michael and Carole Middleton. You can see Kate’s parents on the far right in this picture:
On Saturday, the Duchess flew solo to attend the Women’s Championship game between Elena Rybakina and Ons Jabeur. Kate recycled her bright yellow Roksanda Ilincic from the tour of the Caribbean earlier this year.
