The Edinburgh Title for Charlotte?
For many weeks now, royal fans have been wondering if and when King Charles would make his brother Edward the Duke of Edinburgh. We have discussed this before in previous posts here on the FBTB Substack, and there is important back story in this post, if you are not that familiar with the broad strokes of the saga.
Tonight, the Mail on Sunday published a bit of a bombshell. Kate Mansey, the Assistant Editor for the Mail on Sunday, submitted the exclusive that King Charles plans to save the title for his granddaughter Princess Charlotte. She reported:
A source said: ‘Discussions are under way, but the favoured outcome for the King is that this title ought to go to Princess Charlotte.’ ‘It would be a fitting way to remember the Queen – who, of course, had the title Duchess of Edinburgh – and a way for His Majesty to honour the line of succession.’
The immediate reaction from many fans was to ask, won’t Charlotte be the next Princess Royal? Obviously, many of us assumed she would be.
