Kate’s British Airlines flight was delayed half an hour this morning on its way to Copenhagen, but once she touched down, the Duchess went right to work. Kate is in Denmark for a two-day work trip focused on her charitable interest in early childhood development. Tomorrow, Kate will be received by Queen Margrethe; she will then attend a luncheon and have an afternoon engagement with Crown Princess Mary.
Today, Kate gave a nod to Denmark in this Zara blazer she first wore in 2021 to the Euro 2020 game (the game where England lost to Germany and poor little George was so downcast…) with a Me + Em blouse with the ruffle peeking out. It is pretty typical for visiting royals to pay tribute to their host countries in this way, and Kate is the Queen of Diplomatic Dressing. In 2011, she wore that stunning scarlet L.K. Bennett coat on her brief visit to Denmark.
Kate paired today’s blazer with mother of pearl earrings from Copenhagen designer Maria Black, but I don’t think the necklace is from the same designer. As I have mentioned before, though, I have come to love pearls more and more, and this large pendant necklace is stunning. The earrings and necklace go together beautifully.
Kate carried her Smythson Panama East West tote on the plane, as pictured in an image shared by the British Embassy Denmark, but she switched to her Aspinal London Mayfair Midi bag for her engagements. Her block heels today were her Piper heels from Gianvito Rossi.
Rebecca English reported that after playing with the kids on one of today’s engagements Kate said: “It makes me very broody. William always worries about me meeting under one-year-olds. I come home saying ‘let’s have another one.’” Sigh. I would have loved a fourth little Cambridge.
In the middle of Kate’s day of public events in Copenhagen, pictures of Meghan and Harry dining with Princess Eugenie at a window table in Santa Barbara were published.
I will say that I have always been wary of assuming that the timing of Sussex news coordinating with major Cambridge news days is anything more than coincidence, but even I have to admit—at this point—that the timing is, indeed, very strange.
What’s the fashion verdict you ask?
You all know that Kate’s trouser-looks are not always my favorite. This ensemble didn’t have my heart racing, but I did not hate it. I actually do like this blazer, because it is tailored enough to flatter her figure. I think that same tailoring helped balance out the wide trousers. Given the activities on her to-do list, a skirt would have been impractical, and the ruffle added a feminine playfulness. I hope tomorrow we have something more regal for her day with her fellow royals, but this passed muster in my book.
I am really looking forward to tomorrow. As you know, I am not going back to posting on all Kate’s engagements individually, but it sure is fun to follow a little work-trip/tour after so long.
It's not too late for a fourth little Cambridge!
