This was just the right event for Kate at the moment - sympathising with a fellow cancer sufferer with a shared hobby of photography. Re wearing a tried and tested suit was also a good move for a semi private public appearance.

I am so sorry to read about your father’s diagnosis. A cancer diagnosis is shocking for the person, for the family. Be gentle with yourselves as you absorb the news. I thought Kate’s engagement was lovely, bringing joy into that family’s life and encouraging others to think of ways to live in the present perhaps?

In my opinion there aren’t many more worthy causes (especially close to home) than children & young people with cancer. I used to work in this sector and it’s so overlooked.

In 2019 I met Meghan on a walkabout & mentioned to her that we had a ‘Princess Megan’ on our ward and invited her to visit if they ever returned (hasn’t happened as yet).

I believe Princess Beatrice works with the Teenage Cancer Trust which is great but overall I do wish the royals did more work with this particular cause.

So very sorry about your father’s situation. My thoughts and warmest best wishes are with him, you and all your family. How very difficult it must be for you all.

It was an unexpected pleasure to see the photos of Catherine’s meeting with Liz, who seems like an exceptional young woman. The warmth and goodwill were palatable. I wish Catherine, Liz, your dad, you, and all who have had or are currently facing major, adverse health diagnoses the very best outcomes.

It was a treat to see Catherine smiling and wearing her beautiful berry red suit. I have admired the outfit at each appearance. I also think she looks fabulous in the last photo - that classic paisley-like pattern is very flattering!
