Today’s Monday Memory is a return to November 9, 2022. Kate was on a visit to Colham Manor Children’s Centre. Reviewing this event reminds me how quickly time is moving. Queen Elizabeth died in September of that year, and this was November, so Kate was already Princess of Wales on this engagement. Whenever I look at pictures of Kate that are more than a year old, I automatically think—Duchess of Cambridge. But obviously that isn’t the case anymore.
The Princess was wearing an olive green coat by Hobbs with a knit dress by Mango in almost the same shade. Kate was carrying a Jimmy Choo clutch in Green Croc and wearing Gianvito Rossi heels in Olive Suede.
Kate added a pop of color with her Kiki McDonough citrine drops and a bright poppy. She was really glowing on this engagement. I thought she looked particularly good. Speaking of poppies, though, Kate came with two poppies—one on her coat and one on her knit dress underneath.
The poppy gained special prominence when Kate had the sweetest interaction with a little boy to whom she gifted her coat poppy:
I can’t get over how sweet this little guy is; cute as a button.
The monochrome look on Kate is almost always a smash hit. Green is a beautiful color on Kate, working so well with her dark hair and her pretty tan. I also love how cozy the knit mango dress is. Kate pulls of these figure-hugging knit dresses so well.
I loved this look back in 2022 (which feels so recent and yet so far away) and I love it today.
Catherine looked beautiful and what a sweet engagement!
Love the look and that she gave her poppy to the little boy.
