For today’s Monday Memory, we are looking back to November 29, 2017. Kate was on a visit to Robin Hood Primary School to see the fruits of the students' participation in the Royal Horticultural Society's Campaign for School Gardening in London. You will either remember or notice that she was pregnant with Prince Louis.
Kate turned to her closet for this event, picking three items long loved by Kate and fans alike. Those three items were, of course, her Barbour jacket, Temperley London Honeycomb sweater, and her Penelope Chilvers boots.
This Honeycomb sweater is one of my favorite Kate pieces of all time. I assumed it was discontinued long ago, but I just checked Temperley’s website and it is still available in an array of colors. It’s a classic for Temperley, too, apparently.
I went back and looked at the post I wrote at the time, and I had forgotten this little tidbit about Kate gardening with her children:
Kate told students her fond memories of gardening and the skills she is trying to pass on to George and Charlotte. We did hear a few years ago that Kate grew potatoes and other vegetables at Anmer Hall, and it is fun to imagine them all in such a normal and down-to-earth (literally) environment.
It is pretty clear Kate had a fabulous upbringing in a warm and loving family enjoying very healthy pursuits grounded in reality (as opposed to the virtual world). It is wonderful she is raising her own in a similar manner.
For this event, completed her look by keeping with the natural theme of the afternoon. She chose her Kiki McDonough diamond studded leaf earrings.
I had forgotten how great this event was. This look was pure Kate Middleton perfection—a real throwback to the early days with pieces that have truly stood the test of time. It was also fun to see her wear this coat and the Temperley sweater to a public engagement, since we knew these pieces only from photos of her in her private time. I remember at the time it was like meeting a good friend unexpectedly! I am sure these pieces continue as favorites in Kate’s closet.
I know long hair is her signature, but I forgot how great this shorter style looked on her. Very tempted to take these pictures with me to my next appointment at the salon....
This is outdoors Kate to perfection. Anyone could wear these today and look great.
