Monday Memory: May 26, 2021
Return to St. Andrews
Today’s Monday Memory doesn’t take us too far down memory lane. We are looking back at May 26, 2021—William and Kate’s 3rd day of a mini-tour in Scotland they did that year. Kate had worn a different ensemble earlier in the morning for a visit to the beach, but she changed into this outfit for a return to the University of St. Andrews and then off to Pittenweem Harbour.
The rain couldn’t keep the smile off William’s and Kate’s faces. Kate especially was glowing on their return to the place where the two met. Kate chose to wear Erdem’s Lotus Breton sweater top with straight leg trousers and a Holland Cooper blazer. I love this Erdem sweater. Kate obviously likes it a lot, too, since she has worn it a number of times, most recently in the video in which she announced her cancer.
I have only been married a couple years, but I still love the city where my husband and I met and fell in love while working together. My husband thinks I see the city through rose colored glasses, and maybe that’s true. I assume that even ten years from now, I will get a little emotional going back and visiting the restaurants, the parks, and our former workplace where it all began. I imagine it is similar for William and Kate when they visit St. Andrews. The stress of school melts away, and all that remains are the good memories—falling in love for the final (and best) time. Maybe Kate gets more nostalgic than William, though!
Kate completed her cozy spring look with trendy Veja sneakers and Freya pearl earrings.
I am craving Breton tops right now. I used to have a closet full of them, thanks to years of following Kate, but they’ve all disappeared, and I need my fix again. I really wanted this sweater when Kate wore it for her video announcement, but at $800+ I am taking a pass and looking for something cheaper. I am also over the summer heat and ready for cooler temperatures. Interestingly, I didn’t love love this look at the time—I think the trousers and blazer felt a little heavy— but today, it’s really hitting the spot for me.

I like looking back at Catherine in a casual look that doesn’t include skinny jeans, her long time staple. I think this is a great look!
