We are going back almost to the beginning in today’s Monday Memory. On January 8, 2012, on the eve of her 30th birthday, Kate accompanied William to the London premiere of the WWI movie War Horse. The event was part of a fundraiser for the then-Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry (my, how times have changed).
Kate debuted this gorgeous black lace gown by Temperley London. Fans will recognize it instantly. Kate wore it three times between 2012 and 2013, which, for her, makes it a beloved evening dress. You can see why. The dress is classic Kate Middleton—lace, fitted bodice with a flattering silhouette, and a plunging neckline.
Kate accessorized with the “Art Deco” earrings and bracelet Charles gave her as a wedding gift, and she carried her velvet Mascaro clutch.
These were heady days, weren’t they? She was still under one year as a royal, the belle of every ball, and absolutely glowing. It was a golden age of royal watching.
What is your favorite year(s) of Kate-watching?
Just perfection. Gorgeous dress, stunning jewelry, shiny hair and vertiginous heels. Can’t wait for her to be back when she’s ready
What an absolutely fabulous dress! I absolutely loved watching the first couple years of their marriage. I still enjoy following them, but those first couple years were the absolute best!
