Meghan and Harry Pick & Choose Award Shows
Kate’s 42nd birthday came and went on Tuesday without a peep from Windsor. Although William and Kate have not released photos of themselves on birthdays that are not significant, there is always a first time! :-) And over the years, we have sometimes gotten other reports about their activity, like the time the then-Cambridges joined the Middletons for a Cirque du Soleil performance to celebrate Kate’s 31st birthday, or the insight into their Anmer house parties we have gotten when everyone walks to church together over the weekend.
Although the Waleses stayed very low key this year, to wish her a happy birthday, the Royal Family’s social media did share a previously unreleased image of Kate interacting with King Charles on the day of his coronation (above), which was a very nice consolation treat.
William was out today in Leeds today kicking off the 2024 royal calendar for the Waleses, but we have yet to see the Princess. However, the Mirror is reporting that the two are planning an “overseas” visit to thank British troops in person. The outlet claims it knows the location but won’t share for security reasons.
Jumping across the pond…
This past weekend, Hollywood attended the Golden Globes. I don’t watch the award shows, but I saw the reporting afterward that several prominent members of the Suits cast had a “reunion” and presented the Best Drama category to the cast of the tv series Succession. Meghan was not present.
During a red carpet interview, someone asked Gina Torres, who plays partner Jessica Pearson on the show, about Meghan. Torres said that Meghan is not part of the cast’s texting group chat. According to Torres, Meghan changed her cellphone number and did not share her new number, so they are no longer in contact. Torres, by the way, was invited to Meghan’s wedding in Windsor. Yet another example of the seemingly transient nature of almost all of Meghan’s friends.
In any event, I don’t think any of us is under the false impression that not being on the group chat precluded Meghan from attended the Golden Globes. I assume she was invited and declined. Remember that report I mentioned that alleged Meghan is a super hot ticket in Hollywood and is just picking and choosing her events? Well, I don’t think Meghan is in super high demand in Hollywood broadly, but I do think she is invited to a lot of these various events. So the question is, what motivates her to pick one event and not another?
