Happy Easter! As you know, King Charles was able to attend Easter at St. George’s Chapel this morning, accompanied by the Queen and other members of the royal family. He arrived by car, and he and the Queen were seated a short distance from everyone else in the service. But Charles did greet members of the crowd afterward. He was in good spirits. We still don’t know what type of cancer he is battling, but it is good to see him out and engaging with the public.
Easter can have its hits and misses, but I thought all the royal women looked great today. Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh looked fabulous in Prada.
I also loved Princess Anne’s chilly spring ensemble. So on point for her. Both Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York were also in attendance.
Speaking of Andrew, the Netflix movie Scoop comes out on April 5th. It is about Andrew’s disastrous 2019 interview with the BBC. I was excited to watch it, but I just saw that Rufus Sewell plays Andrew, and I just don’t know about watching it now. I really like Rufus Sewell. I am not sure I want to see him playing Andrew. I will have to think about it.
What about you? Are you planning to watch it?
March was yet another extraordinary month for royal-watching in what has been a historic spring for the royals—all for the wrong reasons. My head is still spinning a little from the activity of this past month.
As you know, it all kicked off when William pulled out of King Constantine of Greece’s memorial service at the last minute without explanation. Now we know that it had something to do with Kate’s cancer (it would not have been the diagnosis!), a possibility I mentioned at the time. You all know the insanity that quickly spiraled out of control in the weeks that followed.
The hysteria over Kate’s Mother’s Day photoshop was extraordinary, seemingly only stoked by the pictures and phone video of Kate from the farm shop, which should have quelled the rumors. Those pictures/videos, too, sparked a bidding war between news outlets, with the winners paying an extraordinary £200,000. One royal reporter noted this hasn't been seen since the Diana days.
