Yesterday, after two years away, the Cambridges returned to Mons Barracks for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. The Duchess chose a military-inspired coat from Laura Green London—a new label in Kate’s closet. She paired it with a new hat from Lock & Co., her emerald and diamond earrings, and Emmy London pumps. As usual, she wore the gold shamrock pin on loan from the Irish Guards and was pinned with a little bunch of shamrocks.
I thought the whole senemble was lovely. If I had one complaint, it might be this “dagger collar” that feels a little overwhelming for Kate’s slender frame. It weighed the already substantial wool coat down a little too much. Otherwise I loved the silhouette and full skirt, and she matched her accessories perfectly.
I have to say, I am also so happy to see Kate breaking away a little from the same-old hat style she has been wearing on repeat—the domed toppers. E.g.:
It is not that I don’t like this style hat, but Kate has done it so, so much. I crave some variety. It seems Kate has been looking for variety, too, because she changed up her chapeau a little on Monday when she attended the Commonwealth Day service wearing a new pillbox hat with a bow by Sean Barrett—another new milliner added to her closet.
