British designer at a French company seems like the height of diplomacy! Highlighting the connections between the two countries. She looked amazing, and they must have coordinated the Mme Macron in blue, Queen in white and Kate in red for the dinner. Too good.
I loved the Dior suit. I love that Bar jacket regardless of who wears it, but Kate looked fabulous!
The gala photo they shared on their socials is another first for them. I hope they continue with the trend. I didn’t actually like the gown from this static photo with no arms visible, but liked it much better in motion, with the chiffon like fabric flowing beautifully. I really like this softer look for an evening gown, especially for a Summertime event. Softer shoulder line too. It made a nice change from her recent more structured McQueen embroidered gowns.
Wowzers! Both looks were elegant and perfectly suited for greeting the French couple. The Dior tailoring on Catherine’s suit was exquisite; it highlighted her figure in such a refined way. The color worked beautifully with her skin tone and makeup - understated, polished, and very “her.” I preferred the evening gown after I saw the video because of its flow and ease.
I know there was some drama when Meghan chose Givenchy for her wedding dress, but I’ve always thought that was a bit overblown. Royals have long embraced international designers, especially when engaging in diplomacy - and frankly, fashion is a global language.
I think the brou-ha-ha over Meghan's wedding gown is that maybe there was a history of Royal brides always choosing British designers in line with being the Royal Family.
I hope she rests and attends both Wimbledon finals ... not criticizing, but if the camera adds 10 pounds, she is very, very thin!! I know she is still recovering, you can just see it on her frame and how much he caters to her. What a blessing of a husband that William is, oh my.
I loved both outfits, but didn’t care for the hat she wore with the Dior. I just didn’t like the design, but can’t quite put my finger on why not.
I was worried that she looked a little worn and out of sorts in some photos when they met the Macrons at the airfield. But given how long it took to confirm she would attend the dinner, I am reassured that she must have felt ok after all, or she wouldn’t have attended.
I found it striking that she was the only royal woman not in white! Anne, Sophie, and the DofG, (and of course Camilla), were all wearing white. The complimentary of Brigitte, Katherine, and Camilla in red, white, and blue was a wonderful effect.
I have heard "chapeau" used in reference to a formal hat. In America, it's pronounced the same way the French pronounce it but with an American accent.😉😄
Since Catherine is a big Burton fan, I can see her starting to have an occasional outfit from Givenchy. But I don’t see her doing too much of it because she is such a supporter of British and Commonwealth labels.
I think Camilla, Kate, and Mme Macron were deliberately echoing the French and UK flag, particularly the French flag which is solid sections of blue, white, and red. I am guessing the other royal ladies wore white to allow the primary ladies to be the focus of that color scheme.
I was so so happy that she went to the State Dinner and she also lingered after the official welcome and toured the exhibits too. A lot going on at the tail end of this week, wouldn't it be cute if George and Charlotte went to the polo but I guess Friday is still a school day and they never seem to take the kiddos out of school for things. Wise. I think Kate will zero in on Wimbledon because that's her big patronage. And as it's on the weekend, she may take at least one of the kiddos with her.
If she takes one of her children, it will likely be Charlotte, as in the past. From what the POW has said before, Charlotte is very into the sport so it makes sense. I hope to see them at a final, as a girls day out, like last year!
Catherine sat with Macron on his left for the evening. Excite too to see a new Sarah Burton. I think her relationship with Burton is very personal and will always endure in some form. First gown back for a state dinner is a big moment and she obviously trusts Burton for these occasions. Lucky the stars aligned for them to create a dress for it.
Do you think she had the gown created for that dinner? I was wondering how long it takes for a gown like that to be made. I loved the chiffon floating.

Pity we didn’t get a formal photo of the three of them side by side! They all looked good.
The RW&B color scheme was an added bonus.
She looked absolutely gorgeous in both outfits!

I thought they could have found better lighting for the formal portrait but happy to see it.
I loved the Dior outfit though I didn't think the colour was ideal for Kate.

I loved everything she wore. She looked beautiful and happy, and William looked so proud and relaxed to have her by his side.
Yes! I love the way they look at each other as they go into events.

Just want to re up my prediction that Jess Collett is getting a royal warrant from the Princess of Wales because yesterday’s chapeau was perfection
Oh, I didn't know that the word "chapeau" could be used in English! (I wonder how it is pronounce). Is it specific to formal hat?

All the royal women (Camilla, Sophie and Ann) wore white with exception of Catherine. Your thoughts on this.
I wondered too but she often wears red while Camilla wears white. Even when Queen Elizabeth was alive and also wore white, she wore red.

I was so happy to see Catherine wearing King Charles’ Royal Family Order!!
Excited to see everyone at the dinner!
The DoG is always a big favorite.

Kate looks sensational but someone please release some of those locked away Crown Jewels! My heart breaks thinking of all those gorgeous unworn tiaras
The best she's ever looked. I was delighted to see her in French brands!!
