Kate Undergoes Surgery at the London Clinic

What we know...

Yesterday, I waited all day to see if Kate would undertake a public engagement—the first of the year for her. The Wales children went back to school on the 10th, so we have been expecting Kate every day since. William was out on the 11th, but as the days have ticked by, there was no appearance from Kate. Even William was absent after that first event. I couldn’t help but scratch my head. Maybe Kate had a cold and was laying low for a few days? Or, perhaps the couple were on a covert visit to British troops and an embargoed engagement would be imminently announced?

This morning, I woke up to a push notification from The Telegraph: “The Princess of Wales admitted to hospital for surgery.” Like every one of you, I was (and am!) stunned. But I was even more shocked as I read the details, which indicate this is quite serious. The Palace issued the following statement:
