After Kate pulled out of Ascot last week, I have been wondering if we will see her this week, but a new column in the Daily Mail by longtime royal reporter Rebecca English has indicated that won’t happen. Rebecca says she understands that Kate won’t make any appearances this week, either. Instead, we should next expect the Princess of Wales at Wimbledon (which kicks off on June 30th).

Rebecca is a great reporter and has great sources. I remember one big royal story some years ago, Rebecca and I chatted about it, and she shared with me a number of things she was hearing. These different pieces of “evidence” were never explicitly published, but they helped to inform her columns. It reminded me that there can be a lot behind an article that is never published.
