Is Prince Frederik Having An Affair?
The royal-watching world is buzzing with the story that Frederik spent the night with socialite Genoveva Casanova. Here is what I have read and my thoughts about it all...
Eleven years ago, William and Kate were on tour in Southeast Asia when pictures were published of the then-Duchess sunbathing topless during a private holiday the two had taken in the Luberon. It was terrible timing for the royal couple to process the news and the fall-out as they were in the midst of busy days during which they were constantly exposed to the watchful media and snapping cameras. They put on a good show most of the time, but who can forget their walk to the airplane in Kula Lumpur at the end of that first grueling day? Kate put on a brave face, but it had obviously been a brutal day.
Crown Princess Mary of Denmark went through something even worse last night. While the Danish royal family was hosting the King and Queen of Spain on a three-day State Visit to Copenhagen, a Spanish tabloid published photos of Crown Prince Frederik with a socialite named Genoveva Casanova (yes, Casanova). The accompanying story alleged the following, as recapped by People:
According to Hola!, rumors of a romance surfaced after Spanish outlets published photos of Crown Prince Frederik with philanthropist, model and TV personality Geneveva Casanova during his private trip to Madrid. The outlet reported that the two toured a Picasso exhibit at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, walked through a park and had dinner together in the heart of the city. The outing reportedly came to be because a mutual friend who was originally set to accompany Frederik around Madrid got sick, and asked Casanova, who is an expert in Picasso art, to go in his stead.
Denying the buzz, Casanova told Hola!, "I flatly deny the statements that suggest a romantic relationship between Prince Frederick and me. Any statement of this type is not only completely untrue but also distorts the facts in a malicious manner. This is already in the hands of my lawyers, who will take care of the pertinent steps to protect my right to honor, truth and privacy."
The part that the English outlets haven’t recapped, though, is more problematic. I typed some of Lecturas’s copy into Google translate and, first, I want to compliment the employee who wrote this story. It’s told with a flare for the intrigue. My more basic recap is that it says that around 7pm the couple left the public park and headed back to Genoveva’s apartment. I think I am missing text, but I surmise from the picture captions that they changed their clothes and re-emerged around 9pm. They were taken by a chauffeured car across Madrid to
