Harry's Security Lawsuit Suggests He Wanted to Return to His Royal Life
Harry is bitter about not getting his one year review period after the Sandringham Summit, but is that really what happened?
Harry is in London today for a second day of court hearings centered on his demand for government-sponsored security. The arguments for and against are a little hard to follow because I don’t have the filings, and I have no idea what the procedures are that are in dispute.
It is evident that the government set up a “bespoke” method to determine whether Harry should get security, probably because his situation is, indeed, exceptionally unique—a senior royal (the son of the king, now, no less) who no longer is part of the royal family, can’t use his HRH (essentially no longer royal), and lives abroad. It’s definitely an unusual situation. Harry argues that the “bespoke” method is not better for him, it is worse and singles him out. But, I don’t know what the method is or how the bespoke method deviates from a typical analysis of whether a VIP should receive security or when they should receive security.
It will all get worked out, but more interesting to me is the personal drama. Would it be a Sussex story if there were not some revisionist history going on?
