Prince Harry leaving Clarence House after meeting with King Charles

Good afternoon, Happy Friday, and welcome to the Late-Week Round-Up of Royal News. Just when we thought the situation in the British royal family could not get any more unusual, King Charles announced Monday that he has cancer. Apparently, it was discovered during his procedure for his benign enlarged prostate, although the Palace was quick to note that the King does not have prostate cancer.

After one round of intense analysis and speculation on what Kate’s surgery might be, I confess I have not been up for a zealous round deux analyzing Charles. Of course, I am always happy to hear your thoughts, but I have few of my own on this topic. More than anything, I wonder how serious it might be. Queen Camilla just remarked in the last day or so that Charles is “doing very well under the circumstances.”

According to reports, the King called both William and Harry to tell them the news, which led to the next major headline of the week—Harry’s transatlantic journey to Clarence House to meet with his father for…thirty minutes.
