As we expected, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Easter morning service at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor this morning. They brought with them George and Charlotte. In the photo above, you can see Sophie and Edward with their children and even Eugenie in the back there. Zara and Mike also attended the service (below).
Kate recycled her ice-blue Emilia Wickstead coat she first wore on a visit to Luxembourg in 2017. The Duchess recycled her Cassandra Goad earrings from Louis’ christening and topped off her ensemble with a Jane Taylor headband she was spotted wearing to church at Sandringham on her birthday weekend in 2019. She was carrying a trusty Emmy London clutch (the Natasha) and wearing pumps (perhaps Rupert Sanderson, but also possibly Emmy London—how many Emmy London pairs of shoes does she have by now?!).
I am thrilled that Easter is really starting to make the Cambridges’ royal calendar, and that they are clearly ready to incorporate George and Charlotte into semi-public engagements.
It has become pretty clear that the Queen is not very ambulatory anymore. I heard some months ago that an elevator has been installed at Sandringham, although the Queen certainly would not want anyone to see her using one. I don’t think she will be going to many of these events ever again, and I expect the Easter service to become a staple for William and Kate in the years to come.
I assume Louis was home anxiously waiting the return of his family so the Easter egg hunt could begin. One of my favorite royal-Easter memories is from 2014 when William and Kate were on that massive tour in Australia and New Zealand. They were in Sydney on Easter Sunday, and long-lens photographers caught them trying what had to have been George’s first Easter egg hunt with him.
Kate was wearing ice blue that Easter Sunday, too. She recycled this McQueen coat and Jane Taylor topper for Easter at Windsor 2019.
I thought today’s ensemble was the perfect holiday recycle. I love the combination of blues and almost dove grey. It is a beautiful color palette on Kate and complements the colors she likes to dress Charlotte in. The family made a beautiful picture together.
Wishing you all a very Happy Easter!
George's first Easter is also a favorite Cambridge moment for me - I ❤️d the dove gray ensemble and the egg hunt.
He Is Risen. Alleluia. Alleluia.
Happy Easter to all.
