I was just saying in a recent post that Meghan’s podcast—inevitably—garners at least one headline a week. This week was no exception, although perhaps a little more sensational than the usual. Yesterday was the final installment of Confessions of a Female Founder (we will get to this detail later). Meghan did an interview with an outlet called FastCompany to coincide with the final episode. The Daily Mail (perhaps other outlets, too), ran a social media post that claimed the following:

Frankly, my jaw was on the floor. What in the world?? She just launched. It was—we are assured—a gratifying smash success. Now she is moving on?

It’s always good to go to the source, though, and when my day finally slowed down yesterday evening, I pulled up the original article. Here is the passage:

As Ever’s first collection was a runaway success. Meghan says that even though the team spent a year preparing the line and forecasting demand, all the products on the site sold out in 45 minutes. Now, they’re trying to plan As Ever’s next phase.

The easiest thing to do would have been to endlessly restock the popular products, which would likely sell out very quickly again. But while the As Ever team has hinted online that the items will be back on sale soon, Meghan also wants to take a step back, gather data from the launch, and figure out exactly what As Ever could be. She says she’s planning to announce new products in the first quarter of 2026.

So, I thought, case closed. someone at the Daily Mail has very bad reading comprehension, I concluded. The piece specially said her team is planning to restock and she is ALSO thinking of next steps. But not then one of my eagle-eyed readers told me on Instagram that this passage is not the original. The article was edited after publication. FastCompany added the italicized sentence above and deleted the highlighted clause below.
