Meghan’s American Riviera Orchard has finally produced its first fruits. I need to stop with the puns, I know, but so many of them are such…low hanging fruit. The Duchess of Sussex has sent little jars of jam buried in baskets of lemons to select “celebrities,” a number of whom dutifully posted to social media triggering a wave of news reports about the jam and the brand. In doing so, she set off a frenzy for preserves.
Perhaps it was just because Meghan does not have a product out yet, or perhaps it was an act of loyalty to the royals, or maybe it was just because the news put people in the mood for jam, but lots of fans went out and bought King Charles III’s preserves. His strawberry jam (Highgrove) sold out after the pictures of Meghan’s jam jars circulated on social media. I suppose I was influenced myself.
